In 2009, I was selected as one of the year’s “10 to Watch.” Directly referencing the “grim reality of a recession,” I was honored to be included among “the individuals the Eagle expects to lead us through those difficulties, effect change and make a difference in the community.”
The South Central Legislative Delegation honored me by electing me as a co-chair in the bipartisan collection of Representatives and Senators. The Sedgwick County Board of Commissioners honored me for my leadership with this plaque.
Working together with the South Central (Kansas) Legislative Delegation, we succeeded in passing the Equus Beds Aquifer Storage and Recovery Project in 2008. Our work on this early green jobs project was honored by the City of Wichita. David Warren, Water Utilities Director, had this to say:
Wichita’s ASR project is groundbreaking water-resource development in Kansas with far-reaching implications not just for Wichita, but for all of Kansas… The financial support provided by the Kansas Legislature during its 2008 session affirms the state’s understanding and support of Wichita’s leadership and innovation in water-resource development.
